How to Apply for a China Visa in France
Step 1: Complete Online Application
Complete the online visa application form via the official COVA system. Register, fill in your details, upload required documents, and submit for preliminary review.
Important: As of March 31, 2025, all applicants must complete the online application and receive online pre-approval before visiting the visa centre in person.
Step 2: Submit at the CVASC
CVASC Status in France (2026): Following closures of Lyon and Strasbourg centres (June 2024) and Marseille (December 15, 2025), Paris is currently the only operating CVASC in France.

Directions: At 26 Rue Jacques Dulud, select “CHINESE VISA APP” on the intercom. Enter the courtyard, walk to the end, turn left to Building D bis. Press “CHINESE VISA” on the intercom and go up one flight of stairs.
Note for applicants outside Paris: Marseille, Lyon, and Strasbourg CVASC locations are all closed. All applications must now be submitted in Paris, or via postal service where available.
Step 3: Fingerprint Collection
Fingerprint exemption for short-stay visas (valid until 31 December 2026):
For visa applications with intended stay of 180 days or less (e.g., L, M, Q2, S2, F, G, X2), fingerprints are exempt until December 31, 2026.Fingerprints are still required for visa types requiring a residence permit after entry (D, J1, Q1, S1, X1, Z). Permanent exemptions apply to applicants under 14, aged 70+, diplomatic passport holders, and applicants with all ten fingers missing.

The Paris centre does not accept cash — payment by card (Visa, Mastercard) is required.
